MNN is proud to launch Comedy Access, a series of comedy classes, shows, and productions to support emerging comedians all over NYC and help them reach new audiences, improve their production quality, and refine their material — all free of charge.
Advanced Improv with Chris Gethard
This class is designed for experienced improvisers who miss the days of getting notes and experimenting in a classroom environment. We will focus on three areas: looking at ways to re-apply improv basics through the lens of a veteran perspective, personal recommendations and notes for each participant, and an effort to find forms and performances unique to the chemistry of those in the room.
If you are someone who has reached a level of experience and proficiency to the point where you rarely get notes, and you miss those days, this class is for you.
In the great tradition of the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, this class is being offered at no cost. By keeping cost a non-factor and with a three week cycle that requires less time commitment, our aim is to remove as many barriers of entry to participation as possible. That being said, please only apply if you can commit to all three classes.

Chris Gethard began improvising in New York City over twenty-six years ago, with the majority of his time spent at the Upright Citizens Brigade. He was a performer there for many years, a well regarded teacher, and for a few years was in charge of administering their school and writing early drafts of the curriculums still in use today. Chris is also an actor who has appeared in many movies and television shows, most notably The Office and Broad City. He also has a career in more underground and solo endeavors, including the HBO special Career Suicide, the podcast Beautiful/Anonymous (which Time magazine has named one of the 100 best podcasts of all time), and the talk show The Chris Gethard Show, which began as a UCB show before a legendary stretch of years on the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, and eventually a three season run on cable television.
