State of Mind

We’re kicking off our fourth season with a two-part series entitled, ‘Welcome to the Human Race.’ This week’s topic is the Black Lives Matter movement.
Since the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in 2013, Black Lives Matter has become a nationally recognized international activist movement, originating in the African-American community, campaigning against violence and systemic racism toward black people. BLM regularly organizes protests around the deaths of black people in killings by law enforcement officers, and broader issues of racial profiling, police brutality, and racial inequality in the United States criminal justice system.

There are only two episodes left in NIGHTCAP's Career Day series and on this show, the curtain to the acting world gets pulled back as actors Jared Kemp and Clifton Cutrary who starred in the hit Netflix series, Luke Cage, discuss the vicissitudes of a career in acting. Jared and Clifton, who played the teenage Willis Stryker and Carl Lucas, share what it took to prepare for their roles on Luke Cage and what it was like being the youngest cast members working with seasoned actors like Alfre Woodard and Mike Colter.
