State of Mind
 

We’re kicking off our fourth season today with a two-part series entitled, ‘Welcome to the Human Race.’ Today’s topic is about Black Lives Matter.

Since the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in 2013, Black Lives Matter has become a nationally recognized international activist movement, originating in the African-American community, campaigning against violence and systemic racism toward black people. BLM regularly organizes protests around the deaths of black people in killings by law enforcement officers, and broader issues of racial profiling, police brutality, and racial inequality in the United States criminal justice system.

“Immigration & Queer Deportation” Today’s episode is on “Immigration & Queer Deportation” We will explore how the global migration epidemic is highly affecting Queer people and how the process for seeking asylum looks like for this community. Lyosha Gorshkov the Co-Founder of RUSA LGBT will be sharing with us his expertise providing social services and advocacy on behalf of Queer Asylum Seekers from former Soviet Russia.
