YC Spotlight: “The Cycle”

With eleven days left before Election Day, we’re cueing up this clip from the Youth Channel to gain insights about what’s on the minds of some of our nation’s newest voters. Our Youth Channel journalists talk to other young people and community leaders to discuss the history and present state of civil rights violations in our country, including stop-and-frisk, police shootings and brutality, the school-to-prison pipeline, and racial profiling.

In this election year examination of the state of civil rights, you’ll watch interviews with educators, community organizers, and students discussing the importance of knowing your civil rights, how knowledge of your rights can help diffuse a potentially dangerous situation, and ideas on reforming the fraught system.
