On the Next The Radical Imagination: Exploiting the Overeducated and the Underemployed - Tasks for Academic Unions Today

In December 2015, Governor Cuomo vetoed a bill that would provide much needed funding for the City University of New York (CUNY) system. As a result, thousands of professors are still without a contract and the salary increase they were entitled to seven years ago.

This Sunday on The Radical Imagination; co-hosts Michael Pelias, a philosophy professor at LIU Brooklyn; and Peter Bratsis, a professor in the social sciences department at Borough of Manhattan Community College; talk with two active academic union members, Jessica Rosenberg and Sharon Persinger, about the longstanding fight for job security and higher wages in academia.

Jessica Rosenberg is the president of the LIU Faculty Federation (LIUFF) and a professor of social work at LIU Brooklyn.

Sharon Persinger is the treasurer of the Professional Staff Congress (PSC) and a professor of math and computer science at Bronx Community College.
