MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center

In 2012, MNN opened a state-of-the-art community media center at the old Engine Co. 53 Firehouse on East 104th Street in East Harlem. The facility features three HD production studios, including a three-camera studio, as well as editing services and a Youth Media Center. The Firehouse offers many Community Events, and Media Education workshops.

On the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm. The Firehouse hosts an Orientation, offering those interested an opportunity to learn more about the classes and certification process. Sign up for the next Orientation here and learn more about Firehouse Orientations here.

The Firehouse on MNN
The MNN El Barrio Firehouse broadcasts its programs on Sundays at 8:00 pm on MNN1 and Thursdays at 8:00 pm on MNN4. They feature artists, writers, poets, and filmmakers, community and social justice activists, and neighborhood residents engaged in advancing human liberation, culture, and politics for the benefit of the community. Programs are streamed on MNN Youth Channel programs air Monday-Friday on MNN4, between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

New York City has a real estate speculation problem, not a homeless problem, community activists told a packed Town Hall meeting at the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center this week. Some 40 homeless advocates, affordable housing activists and community organizers participated in the March 6 event, which included powerful and moving testimonies from homeless people themselves and an informative panel discussion among several housing experts.
Today’s Clip of the Week highlights two things that are dear to our hearts here at MNN: Local talent and the awesome cultural programming that comes out of our El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center .
MNN exists to give voice to the people, and now the network is set to make freedom-of-speech history. Tomorrow MNN’s El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center will host the first-ever televised forum for candidates in the running to represent the United States and Canada in Ecuador’s National Assembly, the country’s legislative branch.
With two weeks now under their belts creating original programming at MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center , producers are weighing in on what they see as the benefits, challenges and very exciting implications of working with brand-new, state-of-the-art technology and equipment. New toys
It’s been an exciting week here at Manhattan Neighborhood Network, as we’ve begun the process of giving a thorough technological renovation to our 59th Street studios. Just as exciting is the fact that, in temporarily closing the doors at 59th Street, we’re getting more use out of our beautiful studios at El Barrio Firehouse Community Center in Harlem. MNN producers will work from the stunning facility exclusively for the next few months, and so far they’ve been very impressed with the space and equipment.
