7pm - Represent NYC: How Young people Can be Civically Engaged with NYC Council Member Helen Rosenthal

A report from the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement at Tufts University found that, in 2014, youth voter turnout fell to its lowest level on record. New York State is particularly disappointing, with the state consistently in the bottom ten in terms of young voter turnout. But in New York City, young people have many pathways to get civically engaged and involved in decision-making that directly affects them and their communities.

On the next episode of Represent NYC, District 6 Council Member Helen Rosenthal welcomes Isabel Luciano, the East Coast Program Associate for the Participatory Budgeting Project, and Murad Awawdeh, the Senior Manager of Political Engagement at the New York Immigration Coalition, to talk about how young people can get civically engaged in the voting booth and in their communities.

7:30pm - Congressional Candidates Debate for New York District 13

Ahead of New York's 13th Congressional District primary on June 28, the democratic candidates held a forum at the Benjamin Flores Senior Center at Taino Towers in East Harlem (sponsored by El Nuevo Caribe Democratic Club of East Harlem) to discuss their plans for the future of the district.

Tune in to hear what the candidates had to say about the status of Puerto Rico, small business issues, student loans, public housing and many more issues affecting residents of the district.
