It’s Monday—and that means it’s time for another installment of Clip of the Week, MNN’s blog series that highlights the work of our diverse and talented group of producers.

Today we bring you a recent episode of Ancestor House, a talk show that celebrates people of African descent and cultures they’ve created around the world. The show is hosted by award-winning performance artist, author, poet and activist Camille Yarbrough.

In this clip, Yarbrough discusses the recent controversy surrounding the casting of light-skinned Zoe Saldana to play the dark-skinned jazz singer Nina Simone in an upcoming film. Later, Yarbrough interviews Byron Hurt, the filmmaker whose documentary "Soul Food Junkies" explores the importance and detriment of traditional Southern cooking in the African American community.

Watch the clip and catch Ancestor House every Saturday at 5:30pm on MNN1 and MNN.org.
