producer filming

Are you interested in gaining field crew experience and learning how to develop a documentary production plan? If so, Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s 12-week Documentary Storytelling Intensive might be for you.

In this course, producers will work together to produce a short documentary. Successful completion of the course will result in joining MNN’s Filmmaker’s Collective. The filmmaker’s collective creates a space for idea development, content production and critical feedback of the work of MNN’s independent producers.

Documentary Storytelling

The theme for this year’s Documentary Storytelling intensive is “Explore the Outdoors in New York City.” In this course, students will learn how to script, plan, shoot, and edit documentary projects. A focus will also be placed on composition and proper sound recording techniques while in the field.

Documentary Storytelling 2

Prerequisites to enroll in this course include the completion of Field Production (Sony Z150 certification), Video Editing (Adobe Premiere Pro CC), and the airing of at least one project on MNN’s network since 2014. Students must supply their own SD cards and hard drives to store and edit captured media.

Documentary Storytelling 3
