David Kleckner, blogmaster for the New York Flyers, ran the 2007 NYC Marathon when he was challenged by his six-year-old son. Eight years later, Dave and his son completed the NYC Half Marathon together. In between, Dave found his new calling to coach with Team for Kids, New York Road Runners' signature program to benefit children throughout the city and beyond.  (Trivia sidebar: Will and Dave first met while both serving as secretaries on Community Board 8!)

Famed St. John’s Basketball player Billy Goodwin, who was the team's captain under the direction of coach Lou Carnesecca, visits New York City from France and drops by “GingerNewYork” for a two-part episode.

Originally from Harlem, Billy Goodwin led the St. John's men's basketball team to several victories, including the historic Big East Tournament win over Boston College that landed him the “Sports Illustrated” cover in 1983. A solid athlete and point guard at St. John’s, Goodwin was a third-round draft choice of the Milwaukee Bucks, and then played for the high ranking Nice (France) Professional Basketball Club.

Billy Goodwin has remained in France since the late ‘80s where he has also been a counselor for troubled youth at UET-Fleurey sur Ouche, and where he is host of a popular two-hour weekly all-sports radio show in Dijon, France.
