Derrick Adkins, co-guest, is a Olympic Gold Medalist in the 400 meter hurdles 1996 Atlanta Games. He is a roving ambassador for NYRR inspiring our young people, such as Miles Bersntein, with the Olympic Mentality: To do the best you can in everything you do! Derrick uses stories to bring this concept to life.

Ron Aprea on his upcoming John Lennon tribute album: This Friday, "Ginger New York" gets a visit from Ron Aprea-- composer, arranger, producer, saxophonist, clarinetist, and flutist-- who is nearly finished producing a jazz tribute album to honor the music and spirit of John Lennon. The album, which will include Lennon collaborations and a gem by George Harrison, is scheduled to be released in early 2015. This is a follow-up to Walls and Bridges, an album Aprea recorded with Lennon in 1974. Aprea will be joined on "Ginger New York" by his son Matt Aprea, a classically-trained violinist who has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and Steinway Hall. Matt is also the founder of the New York Virtual Conservatory, which features online music lessons with world-class teachers.
