This Week on MNN

Last week, Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich jested that his campaign was delaying the NY primary so that he could spend more time eating here. We feel you, Governor. Especially this time of year, it’s tough to pinpoint our top reasons for loving NY, but the food and arts scenes would have to be in our Top Ten. And we’ve got plenty of MNN programming related to both themes this week, with “The Woman’s Connection” discussing seasonal eating and health, “Gotta Run with Will” presenting an inspiring tale of overcoming eating excess, and a new MNN production, “Waste Not,” which takes a critical eye to food waste and hunger. Plus explore the arts on MNN this week with a performing artist and poet on “The Carmen Mathis Show,” a jazz legend on “GingerNewYork,” and a thoughtful exploration of artistic failure on “The Facts.”

Luckily for Juan, a nutritionist-in-training guided him, and with ample healthy encouragement, he took up running. What happens next will inspire many.

Legendary tenor sax George Coleman, Sr. has performed with jazz’s greatest figures, and influenced countless saxophonists during his half century of music. Profoundly influenced by the music of Charlie Parker, Coleman taught himself to play alto sax in 1950. So prodigious was his talent, he was invited to tour with B.B. King at a young age.
