MNN Public Access Manhattan

From the closing of the General Motors plant in Detroit to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, disaster has destroyed cities time and time again. The government is supposed to step in and rebuild, but what happens when they don’t deliver on their promises?

This Sunday on "The Radical Imagination," co-hosts Michael Pelias of LIU Brooklyn and Peter Bratsis of Borough of Manhattan Community College, sit down with Kristin Lawler to discuss capital abandonment and how it has affected cities such as Athens, Detroit and New Orleans.

Kristin Lawler is a professor at College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Bronx as well as the author of American Surfer and the upcoming book Shanti Irish. She is also on the board for the Left Forum.
