YC producers
The Youth Media Center offers a variety of classes and workshops for aspiring media makers to produce critical content in a rapidly changing media landscape. Upon successful completion of certification trainings, youth producers gain access to editing labs, camera, and studio equipment to produce their own  independent projects for broadcast on MNN’s Youth Channel.
 
Check out the classes the Youth Media Center is offering this fall: 
 
1) Youth Field Production with Community Journalism 

An eight-week training course in camera and editing with an emphasis on news production; this fast paced class focuses on quick turn around of projects from ideas to final products with stories centered on community. 
Thursdays & Saturdays, beginning September 25 through November 15 

2) Youth Express TV Studio Production 
Learn to produce a show in a state-of-the-art TV studio. This course is designed to teach you how to operate robotic cameras, switcher, audio board, and character generator.
Thursdays & Saturdays, beginning September 25 through October 25

3) Mobile Storytelling Workshop
This workshop is a two-day course where participants learn to produce short  documentary videos using their mobile phones; you will learn the basics of production, story development and includes in-class practice. Recommended for those new to production or wanting to add to existing knowledge. 
Thursday September 18, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm & Saturday September 20, 11:00 am- 1:00 pm

4) Firehouse Youth Producers Lab
Three to  four Youth Producers will be selected via an application process to participate in The Firehouse Youth Producers Lab, an independent study course for Youth Producers interested in producing an advanced level fiction or documentary project to be completed by the end of the course. 
Pre-requisites: Youth Studio & Field Production Certification 
Fridays, beginning October 3 through November 14
