"Making Art is Making Fun!"

This Saturday, INSIDE NEW YORK is pleased to present an exclusive with Faith Ringgold, the legendary artist, activist, author and educator who at 84 shares with us her latest creative work, an art game called "Quiltuduko."  It’s a great way to kick off the New Year!  INSIDE NEW YORK discusses with Ms. Ringgold her amazing career and why she chose to create this art game.

Tune in for host Joan Allen's interview with Ringgold, whose protests, events, happenings and exhibitions of the 60’s and 70’s took a stand for freedom of speech and equality, and broke ground and opened (museum) doors for artists of color and women. Ringgold is still creating art.

Today, Ms. Ringgold is best known for her painted story quilts and her illustrated children’s books. Ringgold’s first book, Tar Beach, was a Caldecott Honor Book and winner of the Coretta Scott King Award for Illustration, among numerous other honors.  Ms. Ringgold was also commissioned to illustrate a book of Dr. Martin Luther King's "Letters from a Birmingham Jail" and is the recipient of more than 75 awards including 23 Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degrees.

Ringgold’s art has been exhibited in museums and galleries in the USA, Europe, Asia, South America, the Middle East, and Africa. Her art is included in many private and public art collections including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, The Boston Museum of Fine Art, The Chase Manhattan Bank Collection, The Baltimore Museum, Williams College Museum of Art, The High Museum of Fine Art, The Newark Museum, The Phillip Morris Collection, The St. Louis Art Museum and The Spencer Museum.

Ringgold has illustrated fifteen children's books, twelve of which were also written by her.
