MNN Expands Media Education Offerings

Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN), New York City's largest media education organization, will roll out six cutting-edge media courses starting in the New Year.

MNN's digital media offerings are designed to enhance the skills of MNN community producers and to introduce new students to basic concepts of video production, storytelling and distribution.
 
On the roster for current producers are classes in documentary storytelling, graphics creation using Xpression and in-depth studio direction training. New students will learn how to create and use media to tell their stories through courses including "How to be a Successful Producer,” “Mobile Storytelling" and "Social Media 101.”

This expanded suite of digital media classes represent the culmination of MNN's multiyear efforts to expand and deepen its media education services at both the organization's Midtown West Studios and its new uptown facility, the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center.

MNN is the only media education center in New York City that offers real-time, real-world access to seven state-of-the-art video production studios. With more than 2,000 enrollees a year, and some 900 graduates, MNN is the largest media education center in New York City.

MNN's 59th St. Studios and the MNN El Barrio Firehouse have posted a landmark year in media education services. By the end of 2014, MNN will have seen a more than 25 percent increase in education enrollees and an almost 20 percent increase in producers certified to use MNN’s studios, facilities and equipment.

MNN has offered 21 separate media courses this year in English and Spanish, ranging from 3 Camera Studio Production, Mobile Storytelling, Field Camera Production and Basic Editing.
