Thousands to tune into MNN.org’s Livestream on Wednesday, December 11 at 11pm to celebrate the innovative show before it begins a months-long hiatus

Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN), the borough’s award winning public-access TV station, is thrilled to announce the final live 2013 episode of “The Chris Gethard Show” (TCGS), the late-night comedic variety program that producer-host and Upright Citizens Brigade alum Chris Gethard will bring to Comedy Central next year.

“For the last two years, MNN has been honored to provide the free, uncensored platform that has helped TCGS develop such cutting-edge television and become the world-renowned success it deserves to be,” says Dan Coughlin, Executive Director of MNN. “With Wednesday’s cablecast, we celebrate what community media means for the careers of talented performers, artists, writers and producers like Chris.”

During the November 20 episode of his show, Gethard announced that Comedy Central has ordered a pilot episode of TCGS, which began at the prestigious and innovative comedy club Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre before moving to MNN’s studios in 2011. During the show’s public-access tenure, it’s garnered a devoted and increasingly mainstream following, utilizing the freedom of community TV to experiment with topics, formats and a rich interaction with audiences, who tune in via MNN’s Livestream from all over the world. TCGS will return to MNN in early spring for at least one more live episode on public access.

“Wednesday’s cablecast offers a great chance for fans of TCGS to participate in the show as it’s existed during these exciting nascent years,” Coughlin says. “We encourage other Manhattan artists to follow in Chris’s footsteps and take advantage of the space, the state-of-the-art equipment and the unrestricted public stage that MNN has to offer.”

The final 2013 episode of “The Chris Gethard Show” airs Wednesday, December 11 at 11pm on MNN4 (TWC 67, RCN 85, FiOS 36) and streams live at MNN.org.
