About New York Early Voting

Early Voting Period is October 24, 2020 - November 1, 2020

CONVENIENT VOTING TIMES. With two weekends and five weekdays to vote early including several evening hours, casting a ballot in New York has never been more convenient.

MORE TIME MEANS LESS STRESS. Avoid crowded public spaces, delays, or inclement weather and last-minute scheduling that can hinder your ability to vote on Election Day.

BETTER OPTIONS. Where you live doesn’t need to dictate where you cast your vote! All counties outside New York City now offer at least one countywide early voting site that any resident voter may visit.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

In 2019, New York began offering an in-person Early Voting period of at least sixty hours over nine days ahead of all State and Federal Primaries, Run-Off Primaries, Special and General Elections, so New Yorkers have reasonable and convenient opportunities to participate in our democracy (Chapter 6 of the 2019 NYS Laws).

Early voting--which will run Saturday, October 24 through Sunday, November 1--gives voters nine additional days to vote in person during at least 60 hours ahead of election day, including weekends and evenings.

Early voting has proven popular among New York election administrators and voters in both denser urban areas and more sparsely-populated rural localities across the ideological spectrum. VoteEarlyNY examined how each of New York's 58 local Boards of Elections is handling early voting this year in preparation for the 2020 election. VoteEarlyNY found:

Early voting decreases wait times and helps voters avoid crowded public spaces, delays, or inclement weather and last-minute scheduling that can hinder their ability to vote, especially during COVID-19. The longer election period also better distributes administrative pressure and alleviates the impact of unpredictable events that can suppress turnout.

BOE:  MADISON SQUARE GARDEN TO SERVE AS POLLING SITE FOR OVER 60,000 ELIGIBLE VOTERS

The Garden Poll Site Will Be Open for Early Voting and General Election Day

The Board of Elections in the City of New York announced today that it has partnered with Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. Madison Square Garden will serve over 60,000 eligible voters, making it the largest polling site in New York City.

“Madison Square Garden holds a special place in the hearts of New Yorkers, and we are proud to be working with them in ensuring voters can cast their ballots in a safe, spacious and familiar environment,” says Executive Director Michael J. Ryan. “In an election where enthusiasm is at a fever pitch, we recognize the significance of having a venue like MSG on our side to make the process not only more convenient, but really give voters the sense they are part of something exciting and historic.”

“As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to make mass gatherings difficult, we are excited to partner with New York City's Board of Elections and support our community by providing a large-scale venue in the heart of New York City that can accommodate social distancing and serve as a safe place for residents to exercise their right to vote,” said Rich Constable, Madison Square Garden EVP of Government Affairs and Social Responsibility.

Manhattan voters who are assigned to Madison Square Garden can vote early from October 24th thru November 1st with varying hours, including weekends, early morning and evening hour options. The poll site will be located at Madison Square Garden’s Chase Square, at the 7th Avenue entrance between 31st and 33rdStreets in New York, NY.
