Documentary Storytelling Intensive
This 12 week documentary intensive will give independent producers the opportunity to produce a 3-5-minute mini-documentary. Students will learn how to script, plan, shoot and edit a mini-documentary. Students will also learn advanced composition and image control techniques along with strategies for capturing the best sound in the field.
Students will use MNN’s professional field camera Sony Z150 and professional editing software to produce their documentary. Out-of-class assignments, field shooting and editing hours will be required. Students must supply their own SD cards and Mac-formatted hard drive to store and edit their media.
There will be a screening of all mini-documentaries at Manhattan Neighborhood Network. MNN will have the right to air all completed work on its channels and digital platforms.
Attendance, completion of assignments and the submission of a documentary film following the course guidelines will result in the successful completion of the course. Upon successful completion of this course, you may be eligible to join the MNN Filmmaker’s Collective.
The course fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Upon acceptance into the course, students will need to supply payment to the media education department in-person via credit/debit or check/money order. If accepted into the course, payment must be received to hold your seat.
