Join MNN Community Producers This Week on MNN as they explore the heritage, culture and experience of Native Americans. 

The Radical Imagination host Jim Vrettos is a Sociologist who has taught at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Yeshiva University. In this episode Jim and co-host Judy Jorrisch talk with Shinnecock Nation member Tela Troge. Tela is a lawyer for The Warriors of the Sunrise, a group of Indigenous Shinnecock women and their allies that are engaged in a month-long encampment along Sunrise Highway in the Hamptons across from the Nation’s monument. Join them as they discuss why these protests are so important and the struggles that the Shinnecock Nation has endured.

Pathways to the Dream Lodge Cafe, hosted by Candece Tarpley, brings Native American culture to MNN viewers. This week Candece talks about native languages from the Cherokee Nation. Candece is joined by Two Feathers Neal, co-founder of the Cherokee Language and Cultural Circle,1996-2010 and Miryam Yataco, a Peruvian born language rights advocate and expert in intercultural bilingual education.

In this special episode John discusses how the English and Dutch arrived in America and the intolerable demands that were put on the indigenous population at that time. Join us for this important overview.
