Celebrated annually from September 15 through October 15 Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the contributions, influence and achievements of Hispanic Americans to the history and culture of the United States. Join us as we celebrate with dance, music and more. 

Citiguide is a look at some of the best cultural entertainment NYC has to offer. On this episode host Barbara Sam invites us to Pregones Theater where they hosted the 2nd annual Drum and Dance Festival. This festival is an explosion of art, dance, music and culture. It brings together dance companies of cultural heritage from Africa, Peru, Honduras, Haiti, Colombia, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Join us and dance to the rhythms of Puerto Rico’s bomba y plena and admire the art of the drum. 

Latin Icons Past and Present is a program that highlights latino artists from all walks of life. On this episode producer Carmen Llerena talks with Edgardo Melendez, a retired professor from the department of political science at the University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras and the department of Africana and Puerto Rican/Latino studies at Hunter College. Join them as they discuss Profesor Melendez’s many books including, Patria: Puerto Rican Revolutionary Exiles in Late Nineteenth Century New York. Melendez’s book examines the activities and ideals of Puerto Rican revolutionary exiles in New York City at the end of the nineteenth century. This interview is conducted in spanish. 

LFM TV creates a space for Latino filmmakers, musicians and artists to network and share their work. On this episode viewers are given a front row seat to an amazing Latinx virtual concert that was produced in 2020. First up we meet Juventud Y Cultura, a Honduras youth group that uses traditional dance to save young lives. Then we have Dominican musician Victor del Villar followed by Puerto Rican/Dominican duo Gilberto Gabriel and Diana Pou and finish our celebration with dance partners Sterling and Paula dancing to salsa, merengue, flamenco and everything in between.
