On the Next Episode of Represent NYC: Community Boards with Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer

Community boards are the most grassroots, local form of government in New York City, weighing in on everything from liquor licenses to real estate development. Community Board members deal directly with government agencies, and sit across the negotiating table from some of our city’s most powerful real estate interests. But as important as they are, the people who serve on these boards aren’t politicians – they’re volunteers of all ages, from all walks of life.

In this episode of Represent NYC, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer welcomes three current community board members: Zoe Markowitz, who is the youngest member of Community Board 8 on the Upper
East Side, Andrew Zelter of Community Board 1 in Lower Manhattan and Tina Branham of Community Board 7 on the West Side, who will share their experiences and insights into why community boards are vital to the city.
