Clip of the Week: “Carmen”

According to the New York Times, more than 88 million eligible adults don’t vote in the United States, even in a general election.  Are you one of them?

This fall, as our Documentary Storytelling Class took on the latest election cycle as its theme, one filmmaker tackled the issue of voter apathy and how to convince the 88 million non-voters to cast their ballots in less than two weeks.

Watch “Carmen,” a mini-documentary that profiles Carmen Quinones, tenant advocate and former Democratic District Leader, as she attempts to convince non-voters of the importance and significance of voting. As president of the Frederick Douglass Houses, one of the largest housing developments in New York City, Carmen Quinones discusses why and how she became politically involved, and how she attempts to persuade non-voters to use their voice on Election Day.

Watch now.
