MNN Manhattan Community Media

MNN's Youth Media Center is looking to highlight NYC artists of color whose artwork advances social change. Artists can submit a proposal to deliver a 20-minute TED-talk style presentation that will be delivered and recorded in front of a live studio audience at the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center. All presentations will be cablecast on MNN's channels and social media platforms. Presentations should address the role of art in social change, community building, and challenging the status quo!

#ArtTalk applicants must be long-time residents of New York City and artists of color between the ages of 18 and 30 whose work advances social justice and/or addresses social justice themes.

Ready to apply?

Submit a one-page proposal that outlines your presentation and addresses two or more of the following questions:

  • How does your artwork advance social justice?
  • What role do communities you work with play in your artwork?
  • What impact have you seen your artwork have on the world?
  • What advice would you give a younger version of yourself who is trying to pursue art?

Applications are due by June 20, 2015 and should be emailed to YouthChannel@mnn.org.
