Clip of the Week: “Represent NYC”

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Nationwide, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience some form of domestic violence in their lifetime. Crossing age, income, gender, and class lines, the issue plagues all segments of our population. Today’s Clip of the Week draws from this week’s “Represent NYC” episode, a rebroadcast of the program on domestic violence with State Senator Jose M. Serrano and his panelists:

·         Anabella Escobar, Deputy Director of the Manhattan Family Justice Center at the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence, which oversees the citywide delivery of domestic violence services, develops policies and programs, and works with diverse communities to increase awareness of domestic violence.

·         Maureen Curtis,  Associate VP of the Criminal Justice Programs at Safe Horizon, the largest victims’ services agency in the United States, serving more than 250,000 children, adults, and families affected by crime and abuse throughout New York City each year; and

·         Martha Hauze, Deputy Director for Programs at Violence Intervention Program, which addresses the growing prevalence of domestic abuse and family violence in the Latino community by advocating against and educating the public about domestic abuse and other forms violence.
