Clip of the Week: “Economic Update”

It’s mid-September and school’s back in swing. How about a quick refresher class in economics? Watch  Richard Wolff, New School professor and host of “Economic Update” as he brings you up to speed on how the latest global happenings impact our everyday economics.  Hear Professor Wolff explain why the nation is not in a period of economic recovery, including an exploration of the impact of the recent turmoil in China, the stock market, and oil market; the massive West coast wildfires; Amazon’s working conditions and its pension plans; and Banksy’s  Dismaland, the artist’s latest massive pseudo-theme park installation in England.

Plus in the second half, “Economic Update” turns its lens on its own industry and examines tax exemptions for the wealthiest of colleges and universities like Harvard and Yale, and how those tax loopholes are impoverishing the communities in which they’re located.

“Economic Update” airs Tuesday nights on MNN 1 (TWC 34 & 1995, RCN 82, FiOS 33 and streaming on www.mnn.org).
