The Public Voice Salon hosted by John Bredin is an open dialogue on culture and ideas with a particular focus on education. In this episode John talks with one of America’s leading education reformers, Deborah Meier. She’s considered the founder of the modern small schools movement. In 1974, the former kindergarten teacher became the founder and director of the much-lauded Central Park East school in Harlem; an alternative school rooted in the progressive tradition of John Dewey. She is also the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, one of the most prestigious funding programs in the world.
