Film Screening: Harvest of Empire

Friday, October 7 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us to watch the documentary "Harvest of Empire," which examines the role that U.S. military and corporate intervention in Latin America played in triggering massive waves of migration from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Central America.

Photo Exhibit "Urban Latinos: Un Sopon Rico"

Saturday, October 15 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Celebrate the end of Hispanic Heritage Month at the Firehouse as we unveil a new art exhibit in our Luisa Capetillo Gallery. Talented photographers Carlos Hernandez, Leenda Bonilla, and Arcadia Caraballo among others will present their work and there will be a live television studio taping with exhibit curator Taina Traverso interviewing our guest photographers.

Film Screening: Miracle Workers

Wednesday, October 26 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Help raise awareness of domestic violence issues and join us for a screening of “Miracle Workers,” a documentary about women who have survived and escaped abusive relationships. Following the screening there will be a Q&A with the director of the film, Jose Pagan, which will be taped for future broadcast on MNN. This event is co-organized by Milagros Day.
