MNN Public Access Manhattan's Cable Access Station

We're thrilled to congratulate our 2015 Hometown Media Award Winners! The "Access for All" series "Witnessing History" picked up the award for Best Informational Talk Show (Series). Produced and directed by Gloria Messer, "Witnessing History" is a nine-part series that memorializes the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. The series features interviews with guests including Lou Popovich, the President of the USS North Carolina Battleship Association, Vinie Burrows, Actor/Activist, R. Edward Lee, World War II Veteran, Corrine Willinger, an anti-war activist and Reiko Yamada, a survivor of the atomic bomb attacks on Japan, among others. The interview with Reiko Yamada also won a Telly Award in the documentary category. "Access for All" airs every other Tuesday at 9:30 pm on MNN1 (TWC 34 & 1995, RCN 82, FiOS 33 and streaming live).

"The BJ Rubin Show" picked up the first-ever Hometown Media Award given in the "Experimental" Category for the episode "No Mathata." The episode's title comes from the Sesotho word that translates to "No problem." Sesotho is the language spoken in Lesotho, which is a small landlocked kingdom inside of South Africa. "The BJ Rubin Show"  features musical performances as well as interviews, cartoons, animations, sketches, and short films, and airs every Tuesday at 11:30 pm on MNN4 (TWC 67 & 1998, RCN 85, FiOS 36 and streaming live).

"The Chris Gethard Show," which can now be found on Fusion, snagged one last Hometown Media Award in Entertainment & Arts (Single Episode) for "All Hands on the Bad One," which featured Sleater-Kinney's first TV appearance since reuniting.

The Hometown Media Awards honor community media programs that address local needs, develop involvement, challenge conventional commercial formats, and move viewers to experience TV in a different way. Awards will be presented at the Alliance for Community Media's ReDiscover Community Media Conference in Pasadena, California this August.

Congratulations to our winners!
