Coming Up on the Youth Channel: The Future Starts Now

Everyone has at least one role model that they look up to; some praise friends and family members, while others praise celebrities and influencers. For years, people have praised their elders based on the years of experiences, good or bad. The newer generation of young activist have now become instant icons that even adults and elders can praise. People such as Emma Gonzalez, David Hogg, Malala Yousafzai, and Desmond Napoles, have begun to speak out on gun control, lgbtq+ rights, and equal rights to pave the way for the current and future generations. Join the Youth Channel this week with special programming about the feminist movement, the LGBTQIA+ rights, and how to improve social standards on these topics.

We will discuss the impact that media has on body image, how companies perpetuate unrealistic beauty standards, how women and teens are disproportionately targeted by them, what some companies are doing to combat this, and what people can do to maintain body positivity.

Nightcap has its' first roundtable discussion with gay rapper Archie Hollywood and transgender woman Tiffany Berutti who discuss LGBT representation in television. Find out what they think about reality TV producer Mona Scott and her gay plot in Love and Hip-Hop; the double-standard between gay and heterosexual sex scenes on Empire; and the handling of the transgender role on Orange is the New Black. They also chime in on some of the trending issues in Why Though including KeKe Palmer who coined herself as "sexually fluid." The NIGHTCAP spotlight is on rapper Cruzer Santana performing his hit "Lifestyle."
