

Manhattan Neighborhood Network's state-of-the-art television production facility, the El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center, opened in early 2012. Located in East Harlem, the El Barrio Firehouse is dedicated to training community producers in television, video, audio and other media; providing access to media production equipment; and assisting in production of programming that gives voice to grassroots communities, ideas and concerns.
The El Barrio Firehouse staff consists of a ten-person team working in a collaborative and organized environment. MNN seeks a Production Facilitator to join the team to assist the public in the use of MNN's video production equipment, training, and preparing programs for cablecast.
Overall Responsibilities
Production
• Provide technical/creative consultation to producers and members of the public.
• Facilitate studio productions: check in/out producers, prepare equipment, and troubleshoot technical and user problems.
• Facilitate field equipment use: check in/out, prepare packages for producers, inspect and keep track of equipment.
• Facilitate editing station use: check in/out and troubleshoot technical problems. Assist in studio production and editing as needed.
• Make reservations for use of equipment and facilities with public via phone, email and in person using MNN's database system.
• Assist with digital file submission for programming as needed.
• Work on community and independent projects and productions as needed.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
Training
• Teach workshops, classes and seminars as needed or assigned.
• Assist in updating curriculum when needed.
• Prepare training materials and equipment.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
Administrative
• Create and update producer records. Check and update producer certifications.
• Ensure compliance with and implement MNN policies, rules and regulations.
• Respond to phone and email inquiries and assist with program applications.
• General upkeep, maintenance, cleanliness of edits stations, field equipment, studios and other production facilities.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in media, video, communications or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years' experience working in the media field.
• Minimum one year teaching and curriculum development experience.
• Strong studio production, field and post-production skills and related working experience. Experience with Studio Sound Mixing.
• Knowledge of After Effects and similar software.
• Strong new media technology skills and related working experience.
• Excellent customer service skills and conflict resolution knowledge.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs., carry out frequent reaching, stretching, twisting, bending, and standing and sitting for extended periods.
• Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated initiative in solving problems and capacity to troubleshoot and make recommendations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse public. Position requires some weekend work hours.
Compensation
$48,000 - $52,000
