On the Next The Radical Imagination: Examining the War on Drugs and the Campaign for Fair Food

Injustice in America is nothing new. Millions of people fight everyday to be heard and to bring positive change to those who need it most.

This Sunday on “The Radical Imagination;” host Jim Vrettos, a sociologist at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, sits down with three special guests who each work tirelessly to bring justice to their causes.

First is Dr. Carl Hart, neuroscientist and professor of psychology and psychiatry at Columbia University. Known for his research on drug abuse, Dr. Hart hopes his work will redefine the public’s understanding of drug addiction and end the hysterical drug war in America.

Next is Julia de la Cruz, farmer and member of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, and her colleague Patricia Cipollitti, member of the Alliance for Fair Food. Both organizations partner with food corporations to end the injustices that farmworkers face such as violence in the workplace, unfair wages and modern day slavery.

Firehouse TV’s “The Radical Imagination” airs every Sunday at 8:00 pm on MNN1 (TWC 34 & 1995, RCN 82, FiOS 33 or streaming live) and repeats every Thursday at 8:00 pm on MNN4 (FiOS 36, RCN 85, TWC 67 & 1998 or streaming live).
