MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center

In 2012, MNN opened a state-of-the-art community media center at the old Engine Co. 53 Firehouse on East 104th Street in East Harlem. The facility features three HD production studios, including a three-camera studio, as well as editing services and a Youth Media Center. The Firehouse offers many Community Events, and Media Education workshops.

On the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm. The Firehouse hosts an Orientation, offering those interested an opportunity to learn more about the classes and certification process. Sign up for the next Orientation here and learn more about Firehouse Orientations here.

The Firehouse on MNN
The MNN El Barrio Firehouse broadcasts its programs on Sundays at 8:00 pm on MNN1 and Thursdays at 8:00 pm on MNN4. They feature artists, writers, poets, and filmmakers, community and social justice activists, and neighborhood residents engaged in advancing human liberation, culture, and politics for the benefit of the community. Programs are streamed on MNN Youth Channel programs air Monday-Friday on MNN4, between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

Fifteen excited young people from around the City of New York had gathered on mid-summer's eve at MNN’s new, cutting-edge Firehouse media center in the heart of Spanish Harlem on 104th Street. With friends and family in the audience, they celebrated the first-ever screening of youth produced mini documentaries at the media center, also known as the ‘Old Firehouse’.
Join us at the MNN El Barrio Firehouse for a dialogue with students, teachers, and parents about public education, school closings and privatization.
As part of El Barrio Week 2012 , MNN is proud to take part in El Museo Del Barrio's Super Sabado! program that showcases community traditions, cultural expressions, and the latest in Latino art. On Saturday, June 11, from 2:00pm-6:00pm, MNN's El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center will be one of the sites included in the neighborhood tour. Please drop by MNN's new facility during that time to see the latest remarkable addition to New York City's Community Media landscape.
