When building a following on social media it is vital to remain intentional regarding the content you post. If executed correctly, posts can hep you garner followers' interest and loyalty, while simultaneously building your brand. However, if your collective posts lack a vision or don’t tell a cohesive story, you are risking alienating potential followers. Here are our tips for posting on social media.

Social Media Posting Do's:

  • Create posts that foster audience participation. Posting calls to action, audience challenges, and/or news updates about your upcoming projects can increase audience engagement.
  • Regular updates regarding your projects or your brand are key to maintaining audience interest. Post engaging content such as promos and behind the scenes photos and videos of your productions.
  • Establish your brand. Are you a personality who will create posts that have a personal touch, or a production company that is trying to advertise to potential clients? There may be some crossover but, either way, it is important to establish your brand and craft posts accordingly.

Social Media Posting Don’ts:

  •  Make sure you don’t post false or inaccurate information. Remember, your brand’s reputation is on the line. Fact check and research before posting articles or other newsworthy information.
  • Don’t post information that doesn’t align with the brand you are presenting to followers or potential followers. If you are promoting a video project, don’t use the same Facebook or Twitter account for personal posts. If your audience is excited about an upcoming webs series that you directed, they may not care about the new brownie recipe you just tried or your latest family vacation. Remain consistent with the type of content you know your audiences will eagerly engage with.
