Front Desk Associate (El Barrio Firehouse)

Manhattan Neighborhood Network is seeking a Front Desk Associate to join The MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center team. The Front Desk Associate will assist in the overall administration of the Firehouse which includes but is not limited to crowd control and management of the lobby and reception area, professional use of phones, guest registration, documentation of member and staff attendance, and other administrative duties as assigned and directed by the Administrative Manager.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Welcome guests in a friendly, prompt and professional manner.
  • Provide direction to all people entering and using the Center with respect to appropriate use of facility and its public areas.
  • Assist in the distribution of information to staff, youth, visitors and the community.
  • Oversee general appearance of lobby area; keep organized and current with information about neighborhood services and events.
  • Administration:
    • Prepare outgoing mailings, postage, photocopying, faxing, data entry, and word processing.
    • Receive, send and/or track mail and courier activities and sort for staff.
    • Inventory, order, and maintain office supplies as needed.
    • Make entries and maintain contact information in the Center’s database.
    • Prepare and assist with relevant documentation for MNN El Barrio Firehouse's Education and Production services. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in Google Docs programs, social media and general database entry.
  • Familiarity and compliance with office protocols involving dress, demeanor, and discretion. 
  • Ability to gain trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders across diverse populations.
  • Flexible, with sound judgment and a positive attitude
  • Exceptional interpersonal, listening, writing and speaking skills with a customer service approach to servicing all stakeholders.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.

Additional Preferred Experience:

  • Experienced working with the public and in a non-profit setting. 
  • Experience working in media, marketing, communications and/or production environment.
  • Prefer an individual with an energetic and friendly demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team. 
  • Enthusiastic about The Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s mission and values.
