MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center

In 2012, MNN opened a state-of-the-art community media center at the old Engine Co. 53 Firehouse on East 104th Street in East Harlem. The facility features three HD production studios, including a three-camera studio, as well as editing services and a Youth Media Center. The Firehouse offers many Community Events, and Media Education workshops.

Orientation
On the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm. The Firehouse hosts an Orientation, offering those interested an opportunity to learn more about the classes and certification process. Sign up for the next Orientation here.

The Firehouse on MNN
The MNN El Barrio Firehouse broadcasts its programs on Sundays at 8:00 pm on MNN1 and Thursdays at 8:00 pm on MNN4. They feature artists, writers, poets, and filmmakers, community and social justice activists, and neighborhood residents engaged in advancing human liberation, culture, and politics for the benefit of the community. Programs are streamed on MNN.org. MNN Youth Channel programs air Monday-Friday on MNN4, between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

On Friday, December 5th, the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center Film Club presents Every Mother's Son, a film profiling three mothers united in their mission to seek justice after their sons become victims of police brutality.
Save the dates! On November 13th, 14th and 15th, the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center will host more than a dozen movie screenings as part of the 2014 International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival (IPRHFF).
On Friday, November 7th, the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center Film Club presents Mi Puerto Rico, a moving documentary that explores the island's varied, rich cultural traditions and the role of United States colonialism on the Puerto Rican diaspora experience.
The free gatherings we hold in our 59th Street and El Barrio Firehouse studios offer a chance for community producers to network, pick up technical tips and-- of course-- have fun.
