Summer at the Youth Media Center

Each summer, the Youth Media Center partners with the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development as a worksite for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). During their stay at Summer at Youth Channel, NYC youth receive training as camera persons, editors, writers, and reporters, all while producing news segments on issues that matter to them.

Commitment:

SYEP participants at the Youth Media Center must commit to working Monday through Thursday, from 10 AM to 4 PM, for six weeks during the summer.

How to Apply:

If you are interested in working with us this summer through SYEP, you must fill out the online application and select one of our partner providers  :

• Catholic Charities: Alianza Dominicana
• The Police Athletic League 
• El Barrio Operation Fightback

Please note SYEP is a lottery (even if you participated in this program before, you must resubmit an application) and not everyone who applies is guaranteed to be selected.

• Youth ages 16-21 are allowed to apply
• Deadline for application is March 16th, SYEP starts on July 5th, 2018
