YC Spotlight on MNN

The Youth Channel covers the recent “Beyond Knowing your Rights” event at the Latino Pastoral Action Center in the Bronx. Community leaders, lawyers, and families who lost loved ones to police, came together for a night of prayer, remembrance, and education. Victims’ families engaged with attorneys to learn more about their rights in dealing with police, how to navigate the criminal justice system, and what to do after a loved one dies due to police actions.

The clip includes an interview with Constance Malcolm, mother of Ramarley Graham, who was shot in his home in 2012 by NYPD: “Today’s my son, tomorrow it could be them. It can happen to you…He (Ramarley) is no longer here, I’ve become his voice.”
