On Sunday, July 7th, the United States Women’s National Soccer Team won their 4th World Cup. While everyone celebrated, the team members reminded everyone of the ongoing fight for equal pay. Despite record breaking numbers of most watched FIFA World Cup, and holding the most winning titles, women soccer players are making a fraction of what the men are making from doing the same job. In March 2019, all twenty-eight members of the team filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) for gender discrimination. Soccer fans and celebrities have backed up the teams’ decision. NY Governor Andrew Cuomo joined the movement by signing a new equity legislation during the parade.
