This Week on MNN we celebrate Poetry Month

Join our producers as they showcase original works by local poets and give us tips on how to write our own. We have something for everyone, including the kids. Don’t miss out!

Let's Write About is an inclusive children's show exploring social-emotional learning through poetry, creative writing, and song. On this episode host Donnie Welch teaches young viewers how to overcome writer's block and borrows a poetry book from his friend Dragon. This light hearted and colorful program will be sure to brighten your day.

Poetry Thin Air is a long running program on MNN that highlights NYC’s neo-beat poets also known as beatniks. Host Mitch Corber has been highlighting these NYC based poets on MNN since the early 90’s. On this episode we are introduced to Donald Lev. Donald has contributed poetry to The Village Voice throughout the years with his earliest poems appearing in print in 1958. Come celebrate one of NYC’s original beatniks. Only on MNN!

The Lower East Side Biography Project is a program dedicated to preserving the history of NYC and introducing viewers to amazing New Yorkers like Marty Matz. According to Marty’s friends “...he was the kind of poet that liked to read his work with a musical backup, sometimes jazz and sometimes Indian beats.”  This throwback episode will have you grooving on your couch.

Join us Sunday, April 11 at 1PM and Wednesday April 14 at 7PM on MNN 5 (Spectrum 1993).
