This Week On MNN

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services slated July as Purposeful Parenting Month. Purposeful parenting is all about being an active and engaged parent to build strong, positive and functional families. This Week on MNN we invite you to join us for discussions with community leaders, professors and authors who examine some of the common goals of purposeful parenting, which is to raise happy, healthy and successful children. 

The Aspen Institute is an organization with a reputation for gathering leaders, creatives, scholars, activists and members of the public to address some of the world’s most complex problems. On this special program The Aspen Institute gathered a panel of 21st century parents to discuss what the goal of parenting should be. This informative conversation, moderated by psychotherapist and New York Times bestselling author  Lori Gottleb, includes Yale Professor and author Amy Chua, New York Times bestselling author Erika Christakis, psychologist and author Lawrence Cohen, and Ellen Galinsky, President of Families and Work institute. 

Empowering Women Everywhere is a show that highlights organizations that serve the community. In this episode you'll meet Dainielle Lowe, a teacher and the Chairman of Baby S.T.E.P. Inc, a non profit organization that promotes early childhood literacy and education. 

The Parenting Literacy Show hosted by Dr. Joseph Lao aims to provide information that parents can use to raise children who are intelligent, healthy, happy and successful. In this episode Dr. Lao invites District 80 Assembly Member Natalia Fernandez to discuss her work with programs that benefit parents in New York City.
