Latin Icons Past and Present host Gilda Miros visits the New York Public Library of the Performing Arts to take a look at “The Latin Bombshell” Diosa Costello. Ms. Costello was an entertainer that came to the United States in the late 1920’s. By 1930 she was the first latin on Broadway setting the stage for latinas to come. With film, television and theater in her credits this Puerto Rican triple threat is considered to be the original Jennifer Lopez. 

Consider it Blacklit  host Kim Singleton invites author and journalist Jenyne Raines, former associate beauty editor at Essence to discuss the 1958 film Anna Lucasta. The film stars Ertha Kitt in the leading role and is an adaptation of the stage play Anna which was rewritten by theater directors Abram Hill and Henry Wagstaff for an all African-American cast. 

On this episode of Inside New York, host Joan Allen invites Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins to talk about her latest film project Red Pill.  Also, Tonya discusses her work in The Truth and Reconciliation of Women, a series of 10 minute plays and songs written by some of the finest women writers in New York City.
