Eric Adams, Zenaida Mendez, Johnny Cruz at the Firehouse

Zenaida Mendez, Director of the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center, welcomed Mayoral hopeful Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and MNN Community Producer Johnny Cruz to the Firehouse studios for a taping of Johnny’s program, The Johnny Cruz Show. Johnny’s long running MNN show is primarily dedicated to the art of salsa music and includes exclusive interviews and vintage video clips of salsa music legends.

This episode of The Johnny Cruz Show features Cruz in conversation with Adams discussing his take on policing and gun control, affordable housing, and small business recovery in a post pandemic New York City. Johnny’s lively conversation with Brooklyn Borough President Adams is interspersed with some amazing archival footage of salsa music legends Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco and the Fania All-Stars.

Cruz is also the founder and manager of the SPAHA Salsa Gallery located in the heart of East Harlem. The SPAHA Salsa Gallery preserves and highlights the historical growth of salsa music for future generations.
