Guide to NY’s 2020 Election
From the Executive to the Legislative branches of the Federal and State governments, New York voters will have many many choices on November 3. Make sure you are registered, ready and have a voting plan in place.
If you are not yet registered to vote check right here, Do it NOW! Or if you are not sure about your registration status? Check it here. Friday, Oct 9th, is the last day register in time for the November 3 general election.
If you are registered to vote and want to vote by mail you must apply for an Absentee Ballot via mail, email or fax by October 27 or in person by November 2. Details on that are here.
If you are registered and wish to vote in person, you can do so early or on Tuesday, November 3. Voting on Election Day - Tuesday, November 3 - go from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Find your Election Day polling site here.
Early voting begins October 24 and runs through November 1. The hours change each day, so check them here. Your early-voting polling site could be different from your regular polling site, so search for your address here.
Election Day is November 3rd.
The Deadlines
Oct. 9: Friday is the last day most New Yorkers can register to vote, by mail or in person.
Oct. 14: Your local board of elections must receive your mailed-in registration or request to change your address by this date. Those forms, however, must still be postmarked by Oct. 9.
Oct. 27: Voters can request absentee ballots online; by email, fax or mail; or by calling their local board of elections by this date.
Nov. 2: Voters can apply for an absentee ballot in person by this date.
Nov. 3: Election Day. Absentee ballots must be postmarked by this date. Vote in person 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
