YC Spotlight: “YC Original: Potential to Power Girls Symposium: Bridging Minds, Building Movements”

Wonder Woman is having a moment. The 1970s superheroine has exploded onto the summer movie scene to inspire a new generation, with implications that go far beyond box office movie ticket sales. With gender equity and female empowerment on our minds, we present coverage from last year’s “Potential to Power Girls Symposium” as our YC Spotlight.

The annual symposium, sponsored by the YWCA of the City of New York, brings together approximately 150 high school and middle school girls from across New York City to discuss gender equity, inspire young women and expand their networks, and work toward developing collective leadership. Hear from speakers Darcy-Tell Morales and Danielle Moss Lee from the YWCA; Melissa Mark-Viverito, NYC City Council Speaker; and Keynote Speaker Hebh Jamal, youth activist.
