Given the current state of the country, it’s easy to sit back and feel helpless. However, there are plenty of ways you can make a difference right here in Manhattan. This Sunday on MNN, we’ll show you programming featuring New Yorkers who are taking charge and fighting for the causes they’re passionate about.

First on “Represent NYC,” learn about the benefits of joining your neighborhood’s community board and how you can apply. Then on “The Radical Imagination,” learn how one organization is fighting against injustices their fellow New Yorkers are facing.

7pm - Represent NYC: The Benefits of Joining a Community Board with Manhattan BP Gale A. Brewer

With a new presidency about to begin, it’s safe to say that our country and city are going to experience changes. Luckily, community boards give New Yorkers an opportunity to have a voice in local government and the chance to help their neighborhood thrive.

This Sunday on “Represent NYC,” tune in to one of our favorite episodes featuring a discussion between Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer and Manhattan community board members about the benefits of getting involved.

Ready to take action?

This is the time of year when the Borough President's office begins the appointment (or re-appointment) process for 300 Community Board membership slots. The application deadline is February 3, 2017. You can find out which Community Board district you live or work in and apply online.

8pm - The Radical Imagination: Imagining Jews for Racial and Economic Justice

As the new administration continues to announce their plans for the country, certain groups of people are becoming more fearful of losing their basic rights. With so much at stake, what can we do to protect those at risk?

This Sunday on “The Radical Imagination,” Jim Vrettos chats with Leo Ferguson of Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) about the importance of standing up for all marginalized groups and the ways Jewish New Yorkers can get involved in JFREJ’s work.
