The New York Opera Society pays tribute to two essential American composers: Scott Joplin was an African-American musician whose ragtime classics (like the überpopular “Maple Leaf Rag”) had a significant influence on later American greats like George Gershwin.
As part of their “A Tribute to Black History Month: Fascinating Rhythms—Gershwin and Joplin,” hear two concerts featuring music written by both men. FREE World Financial Center, 220 Vesey St at West St 212-945-0505
