Natural hair...Pride or Status? From Ancient Africans wearing hair messaging their majestic status; to the various tribes identified by distinctive hairdos and Geles worn with pride; to foreigners landing on the continent and forcing its natives through the "Doors of no Return" and shipped across the Atlantic Ocean to be distributed around the world with the United States among the receiving end. The result of the timeline of braids, tignons, hot combing, perms, extensions, locks, no hair, some hair, back to natural hair, has been an evolutionary stimulating conversation of "Natural Hair...Pride or Status?"
The established talented artists exhibiting their mixed medium artworks, powerfully engage the public to continue the discussions, inner search, take a stand, and ultimately reflect natural beauty with self-pride and magnificence.
