Youth Channel's On the Red Carpet Covering the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival from April 23- May 4th
The Tribeca Film Festival started in 2001, following the attacks on the World Trade Center, to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of lower Manhattan through an annual celebration of film, music and culture. The festival’s mission focuses on assisting filmmakers to reach the broadest possible audience, enabling the international film community and general public to experience the power of cinema and promoting New York City as a major film making center.
Since its founding, the festival has attracted over two million attendees from the US and abroad and has generated more than $425 million in economic activity for New York City.

May 1st: International Workers Day
May Day 2008 is critically important. Will the optimism and hope expressed around the Presidential elections translate into an end of immigrant raids and deportations? Will it bring an end to the foreclosures of homes, the rising of gas and food prices, or an end to job lay-offs? Whatever the outcome in November, the May 1st Coalition for Immigrant and Workers Rights will be marching once again on May Day, International Workers Day to say "no" to all the attacks against workers here and around the world.
Start: 05/01/2008 - 12:00pm
End: 05/01/2008 - 5:00pm
Thursday MAY 1st
12 pm: Gather at Union Square, 14th Street & Broadway
4 pm: Rally & March

D.A.M.N YC New Episodes
Defense Against Media Nonsense (D.A.M.N.) is a show that allows young people to capture what is news to them. It is newscasting that is done in documentary format, and told through the eyes of youth, for youth. It offers an uncut look at "important community issues" that are poorly covered or under-exposed by the mainstream media. DAMN is about change. It's a new kind of news show.
