This past Wednesday, March 10th - MNN Training Dept teamed up with Programming to present a new seminar for public access producers.

Promo Video Creation, taught by Rahum Brown, Programming's Marketing Coordinator (and all around Renaissance Man) offered solid tips and tricks to access producers to help them create their own compelling 30 second promotional spot - a critical tool in attracting more viewers to programming.

Beeps Slam Cable Delay

All five of New York City’s borough presidents warned this week of “serious consequences for the residents of our boroughs” caused by the 18-month delay in new cable Franchise Agreements between the Bloomberg Administration and the incumbent cable operators, Time Warner Cable and Cablevision.

In a March 3rd letter, the five BPs or “beeps” took special aim at the urgent need for the Bloomberg Administration to ensure that Community Access Organizations like MNN, who are operating off deals struck in 1998, have the necessary financial support to meet community needs.

2010 Hometown Video Awards Call For Entries

The Hometown Video Awards, hosted by The Alliance for Community Media (ACM), will be accepting entries now through March 27, 2010. The video awards honor and promote community media and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational and Governmental access (PEG) television. Winners receive national recognition in The Community Media Review and on the ACM website. Winners also receive a beautiful personalized plaque with the producer’s name, program title and category. In addition, MNN will prominently display all Manhattan winners on the MNN Wall of Fame, located in the lobby, and highlight the winning episodes on MNN throughout the summer quarter.
